da dobrowin: Leeds United’s talismanic centre-back Pontus Jansson could be a doubt for Saturday’s Championship clash with Bristol City having picked up an injury that saw him misst both of Sweden’s games during the international break, and his potential absence could give Marcelo Bielsa the perfect chance to recall Samu Saiz to the starting XI.
The Yorkshire outfit’s impressive start to the season suffered a major hit as they were beaten 4-1 by fellow promotion hopefuls West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns before the two-week break, and the Argentine manager will want his team to instantly bounce back against Bristol City.
If Jansson does miss out it could give the 63-year-old a major headache though, as he has no senior centre-back options available aside from Liam Cooper with Gaetano Berardi and Luke Ayling also both on the sidelines.
New role for Klich?
The Sweden international failing to prove his fitness could see Bielsa choose to drop Kalvin Phillips into the backline – something that has already happened this term – from his usual position just ahead of the back four.
Klich has shone in an advanced midfield position for the Whites during the current campaign with five goals and five assists in 17 Championship appearances, according to Transfermarkt, but he hasn’t found the net in his previous four league outings.
The Poland international featured in a deeper role for his country in their 1-1 Nations League draw with Portugal on Tuesday night, and he has all of the attributes needed to cover for Phillips against the Robins.

Saiz returns
Having failed to score and provided just two assists in 14 league games, as per Transfermarkt, the Spaniard was dropped and has played just 37 minutes of Championship football over the course of Leeds’ previous three fixtures.
However, he did pick up an assist in the defeat to West Brom despite only being on the pitch for 12 minutes, and there is no doubt that he is one of their few players who can create that magic of moment.
A home match with Bristol City is the perfect opportunity for Bielsa to place his faith in Saiz again, and he needs the 27-year-old to deliver.
