da wazamba: We’re only three games into the Scottish Premiership season and already Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha is under serious pressure. After European calamity in the early summer, the Light Blues appeared to have turned a corner at the start of the season with wins over Motherwell and Dunfermline.
da pixbet: However, the inconsistent performances and results have crept back in with a defeat and a draw against both Edinburgh sides meaning they are already five points adrift of Celtic, Aberdeen and St Johnstone at the top of the table.
With supporters rapidly losing patience with the Portuguese, Caixinha really needs a win against Ross County on Sunday to ease the pressure and give the Ibrox side something to build on after the international break.
To do that though we reckon he needs to make some bold changes to his team and these are the THREE changes we would make for the trip to Dingwall…
Hand Aaron Nemane his debut
Rangers made their tenth signing of the summer transfer window this week with the acquisition of young Manchester City winger Aaron Nemane on loan. The 19-year-old was not expected to feature immediately for the Light Blues but has in fact been training with the first-team at the end of his first week at the club and could make a shock debut on Sunday.
With Josh Windass injured and Pedro Caixinha badly needing more creativity in the final third, the stage is set for the unknown Nemane to make himself an instant hero with the Ibrox support and add a fresh spark to their faltering performances.
Caixinha certainly appears enamoured by the youngster’s ability.
As quoted by The Daily Record, he said this week: “Aaron is a very gifted player who can play in both wide areas. He can create space that isn’t existing in that moment. He is quick and aggressive. He gives us an option out wide when players such as Josh aren’t available.”
That aggressive, direct style sounds like exactly what Rangers need and we reckon fans should be given a chance to see what the City loanee is all about on Sunday.
Bring Jordan Rossiter back into the fold
Rangers’ most complete performance of the season thus far was in the 6-0 thrashing of Dunfermline and one of the stars at the heart of that performance was Jordan Rossiter. Yes, it may have been a cup match against lower league opposition, but everything clicked for Rangers that night and a repeat of that would surely be enough to see off Ross County on Sunday.
Rossiter hasn’t started since and we reckon it’s time to bring him back into the fold to see what he can do in Scottish Premiership action. He showed bravery to receive and move on the ball in that match versus the Pars and the Light Blues badly need that kind of attitude to consistently pick up three points in league action.
Injuries have hampered his progress since making the move from Liverpool but he still has plenty of potential and can still make a name for himself at Rangers. Will that start on Sunday?
Time to see what Carlos Pena can do from the start
Outside the capture of Bruno Alves, the acquisition of Carlos Pena this summer was arguably Rangers’ marquee signing but he has not yet made a positive impression on supporters.
With just a single substitute appearance to his name so far, in the defeat to Hibernian, he hasn’t yet had the opportunity to show what he can do. However, with a couple more weeks of fitness work under his belt he should be ready for action from the start of the match and every Rangers supporter knows they need some kind of change in the midfield if they are to create the chances to stick away against Ross County.
The only way Pena will adapt to Scottish football after his move from Mexico will be with match practice and a start in the Highlands would go a long way towards his development at the club. Rangers fans will be hoping to see why Pedro Caixinha splashed the cash on his signature.
