da fezbet: David Moyes believes that a ground share between rivals Everton and Liverpool would benefit both clubs, according to The Daily Mirror.
da dobrowin: The Toffees manager, who has been linked to the vacancy at White Hart Lane insists he is focusing on Everton and believes that a shared state-of-the-art stadium between the red and blue halves of Merseyside would catapult both clubs into the spotlight.
“I’d take a shared stadium”, Moyes stated, “ … I think Everton need it probably more than Liverpool – although it’s not in our culture to share stadiums”.
“But I have to say it does make sense. You could redevelop the whole area around Stanley Park, so for us it would definitely be worth it for both clubs.”
However, the long standing manager who is currently working at the European Championships admitted that it would be tough to get Liverpool on board.
“Everton, being honest, would say probably we would take it, but Liverpool not so, and that’s probably where it will end up.”
Both Goodison Park and Anfield are fairly timeworn grounds, with competing clubs generating much healthier revenues on match days thanks to brand new stadia. However, with Liverpool’s plans of a new stadium of their own on indefinite hold, it seems unlikely that Moyes’ ambitions of a new shared home for his club will ever materialise.
