da brdice: Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez has claimed that he had to check into a clinic to deal with depression over the summer, as an exit from Eastlands feel through during the transfer window.
The Argentina international striker has expressed his desire to leave the Premier League club, claiming that he is unhappy and wants to be closer to his family.
Summer moves to Corinthians and Inter Milan fell through, and it now looks likely that the attacker will fight for a place in Roberto Mancini’s side.
Despite this, Tevez has claimed that he was depressed over the uncertainty of his future, and needed to seek professional help.
“I’m not the s**t that they say I am. I had a personal crisis this summer. I put on five or six kilos and had to check myself into a clinic. I was depressed and so I ate and ate. Only my family and my friends know this,” he told People.
“People can criticise me if I don’t play well, but they can’t say ‘He missed a penalty so the coach would be sacked.’ It’s the bad feeling towards me that I can’t stand.”
Tevez’s family have now moved to England to be closer to the striker, but a first team berth at City is in no way guaranteed, as Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero are in great form.
