da brwin: Pablo Zabaleta has been sensational for West Ham this season, but the Hammers should move for Matt Doherty when they lose the veteran right back next summer.
What’s the word?
da esport bet: After an up and down first season, Zabaleta has really found his feet at the London Stadium this season, but he is not expected to stay beyond next summer.
The highly decorated right back will be 34 in January, and his contract with the Hammers expires at the end of this campaign.
That said, the Hammers are surely already looking for his replacement, and Wolves’ Doherty is the perfect fit in every way.
The perfect replacement?
When you think about Zabaleta, you think about marauding runs forward into the box, constant overlapping and fantastic low crosses, and Doherty is already proving he can do the exact same thing.
The 26 year-old scored four and assisted four in each of his last two Championship seasons with Wolves, and is well on track to smash those numbers this year with three goals and three assists already.

While he is usually deployed as a wing back in front of a back three, he has performed well for the Midlands club as part of a back four as well, so the transition into Manuel Pellegrini’s system should be easy enough.
There are very few full backs in the league with both defensive stability and genuine attacking quality, and Doherty is more than capable of taking the helm from the ageing Zabaleta.
So, West Ham fans, would you back this move? Do you think you could lure him away from Molineux? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
