da pixbet: Winston Reid could miss West Ham United’s Premier League match against Watford on Sunday, reports the Daily Mail.
What’s happened?
da brdice: The 29-year-old is due to play for New Zealand on Wednesday in a World Cup playoff against Peru.
The contest will take place in Lima and as a result, Reid is not expected to return to English shores until Saturday morning.
Given that the clash against Watford will take place just 24 hours after the defender lands, the game may come too soon for him, reports the Daily Mail.
With Javier Hernandez also a doubt, it is not the ideal start for Moyes as he prepares to take charge of his first game as West Ham boss.
How much of a blow is this?
Reid has started eight of the Hammers’ 11 Premier League games this season and he would have been expected to feature against Watford.
Add in the fact that defender Jose Fonte is out of action until 2018, Reid’s absence could make life that much harder for Moyes.
So far this season, the East London outfit have conceded 23 goals in the top flight, keeping just three clean sheets.
Losing a regular fixture in the back line will deplete the team, but the silver lining is that Watford have lost their last three matches on the trot.
